Just throwing a feeler out there to see what's for sale. Mike grabbed the one I was looking at the other year.

My 80G has the same fairing and luggage, a bigger tank would be nice to have when I'm trying to make time on the interstate!

Not just the tank, which is the standard tank for the EU/RoW standard models (they never got the smallish 5.3 gal. US tank, but the big one right from the start). The Venturer also got the OEM oil cooler system that all EU/RoW standard models had from the beginning.Comment

Radioguylogs I'm looking at a Venturer. Talk me out of it. I DO have an '80G with the same fairing package that I could get running, but it's maroon, and not my favorite color.1979 XS1100F

Well, if you're just riding around town, I can talk you our of it. You don't need a bike that heavier and less nimble.Radioguylogs I'm looking at a Venturer. Talk me out of it. I DO have an '80G with the same fairing package that I could get running, but it's maroon, and not my favorite color.
However, if you want to travel, I can't talk you out of it. The bigger tank and tall gearing is necessary. The seat is comfortable. The weight of the bike makes it very smooth and stable over 70MPH. I don't worry about the heat in Michigan, but the oil cooler might be a good thing if/when I ride out west. I doubt I'll ever use the security cable......but......it's the fabled Venturer!
I never appreciated my Venturer until I took that trip last year. Now, I would never part with it.
I know you want something good for two-up riding. Here is picture of a funny situation. During one VYR Rally, we stopped for lunch 72 miles from the Iron Horse Lodge. One of the guys had an XS650 that refused to stop after lunch. I volunteered to take him back to the lodge so get his truck and retrieve his bike. So, here we are, with (then) 82 year old Jack riding bitch on the Dragon:

Well, I bought a pristine, low-mileage Valkyrie Interstate for 2-up riding, which my gf loves. Vance over in Clarkston convinced me to keep the Valk, over-selling it to make room for the Venturer, if I bought it. But, man-oh-man do I love the Venturer just to have it . . .1979 XS1100F

That Valkyrie is really nice! That's probably even better than the Venturer for travelling.
Your Venturer candidate looks really nice. Doesn't look like it needs much work. I like having the trunk.
Glad you stay in touch with Vance. I haven't communicated with him in a few years. I suspect he must have finally sold his XS11SF. I gave him a spare exhaust for it to return a favor.Last edited by Radioguylogs; Today, 09:44 AM.-Mike

Yes, he sold everything off, and acquired another low mileage SF. Still has his Harley. That Valkyrie is really nice! That's probably even better than the Venturer for travelling.
