    H'mar,

I think I have a spare two-step bolt for the late-model XS and XJ,

    Send me a PM.

If no one else can help out I can hook you up with used or brand new. I have a couple of used ones around here for sure. The new one is in my private stock and is dear to me, so do not let shiny get in the way of a good deal.

The washer I have is 2.90 mm, slightly less than 1/8 in. The washers should all be pretty close to the same size:-

When you put it back in use some Loctite on it. Be sure the teeth on the clutch pack aren't damaged.

Don't remember when they changed, but not all years used that washer.

I see one on Ebay for another option. http://www.ebay.com/itm/YAMAHA-NOS-X...b470f3&vxp=mtr

                IIRC it was 80.

I only have two '80G engines to check:
                  With the double-row bearing: 3H5-000758
                  With the single-row bearing: 3H5-005193

The broken '82 XJ11 engine had the single-row bearing with a two-step bolt and washer that cleaned up good for their measurements and pictures.

I wonder if I can fit the earlier lower case with the double-row bearing to my later case with the single-row. There are no serial numbers on the lowers, they're both aluminum color and one of them is getting new paint.

Sorry, H'mar, I didn't mean to gleep your thread! The bolt and washer are on the way after I finish making a parts and supplies list to pick up while I'm out and about.

I just changed a couple of pulleys on a Chrysler 3.3 and it used what appears to be the same bolt as our obsolete transmission countershaft bolt. Anyone know the thread pitch and length of the Yamaha bolt?

Close but too long and wrong pitch:
                        M10x25mm 1.25p
Strength Rating -- very strong but not as strong as clutch hub gears.

No problem, thanks for looking up those bolts, good memory. I was pretty jazzed when I saw your post and I have the bolt assembly out on the bench while I work on the gear stack so....

You could cut the 30mm bolt down to 25mm but changing the pitch wouldn't work. Bummer.
