I do believe sir that the engines are the same upto the XJ's. I know for a fact a few here have an extra engine (or six) they could pull them from for yah.1979 XS1100F

The only way to remove them really would be to heat up the block and use a pair of vice grips clamped to the shaft of the studs.. which is going to muff them up, defeating the purpose. Not much threads there to try to double nut them off. I'm going to assume this is purely for cosmetic purposes. Simple rust removal, primer and a good coat of high temp paint should fix you up.
Also, in this day and age, I'd be hesitant about posting your bike/engine's full VIN numbers online like in your signature. The first three digits is all that's needed for identification purposes.Try your hardest to be the kind of person your dog thinks you are.
You can live to be 100, as long as you give up everything that would make you want to live to be 100!
