The first bike I had was a 500 Triumph with a Smiths clockwork tach as the only instrumentation on it, if you don't count the little plunger that poked out of the case if the oil pressure was up.
So, as a test to see if your son has been paying attention in school, get a calculator and the gear ratios out of the spec sheet, measure the diameter of the rear wheel, and figure out what RPM's are what. CZ
p.s. I don't think a speedo will cure the problem. Making him pay the tickets, and losing his license, might.
Thanks. We already did the rpm thing with him driving beside me at specific speeds so he could note his speed via the tach. Meantime we picked up a gauge cluster from Andreas from ax XS650 that works just great. Now we just need to hook up the tach to the alternator.
