XS West - Great rally!

Thanks to Matt and family for making this another memorable XS rally! Unbeatable roads and remarkable scenery.


I got back about an hour ago. It was an uneventful ride home, except for the stop-and-go traffic going down the mountain on US 50. Took about an XStra hour. After Placerville the the slab opened up for an easy cruise most of the way home.

I'll write up a longer report later, but will second Bill's comment. Great rides, great scenery and a good group of people.

I arrived home this afternoon; lets say the northern Utah route is scenically challenged. For those who need to get across Utah, try Hwy 50, go with a buddy. It has one stretch of 83 mles with no services, but you go through several mountain ridges. Cross a valley, twisties up to the ridge, then more twisties down from the ridge, than across another valley. Repeat several times. Beats the heck out of I-80.

Gas prices ranged from $2.859 to $3.499 for unleaded regular.
