Al, let me know when you'll be in the vicinity and perhaps the locals could meet for a meal or brew. We meet rarely enough, that might be a good excuse, and pretty decent weather, too.

LoHo, I can be the "point man" for anyone needing a motel room. I plan on calling the middle of next month, and booking the number of rooms we need. For everything else, I'll gladly let you do the work!

            Here's that motel info:
It's in Midpines just a ways down the road from the KOA. It wasn't a mega-star place, but there were beds and potties in the room. Muir Lodge Motel, 209-966-2468. The reviews say it's clean and taken care of, and that if you book early, the rate is great.

Is anybody planning to attend this rally (besides me) from Southern California?

Hey, Ralph, I'm in Ventura County.

I've been burning the midnight oil to get ready for Yosemite.

                Regards,

Mike, plus one, or two, and I are (hopefully) riding together. From Simi, I assume you'll come over the 118 to the 5. Perhaps we could meet up along the way? Top of the Grapevine?

Works for me, although I was thinking about taking Hwy 101 and PCH up the coast to Monterey, then heading inland to Los Banos and over to the 99.

I've driven the 5/99 so many times it's boring and I like the scenery along the coast.

Wow! That's certainly worth considering. I've received confirmation from Mike that he'll meet me in Costa Mesa around 9AM.

Doesn't going via Monterrey, etc. make it a really long trip? How many miles/hours does it take. It might be more interesting to come home that way, since we'll be able to get an earlier start (There's also 33 and 25 down the middle which are interesting roads with very little traffic.

We can meet up and take 99.

I used to live up in Oakhurst; got my MC license in Mariposa years ago. Yosemite has been there for millions of years and it would've waited a few hours for me to get there.

                        Regards,

                          Great!

OK, we have to figure where to meet you and the timing. Assuming the San Diego contingent will need to top off and stretch their legs (and when they arrive), we should be back on the road no later than 9:15 - 9:30. From Costa Mesa to Newhall is about 75 - 80 miles which will be about and hour and a half, depending on Friday traffic. At nine-ish we should be pretty much on the tail end of "rush" hour and should make decent time.

Do you have a cell phone? Send me your number and we'll call when we go kickstands up.

                          Ralph
