  • Key West Ride Mar 1-7

It has been awhile since the last Key West ride. Too long in fact.
CoVid and various things sure messed up the parade.

There is interest getting back to South Florida, the Everglades and of course, Key West in 2025.

So this will be part an informal ride, part Flash Mob, part, Rolling Rally, part Rally. Another one of those Hop-On, Hop-Off rides depending on what floats your boat.

As usual, mostly Back Roads & County Roads as they are available. Staying off the FLA Turnpike and Interstates. (well, actually maybe do 1 mile on i-4)

    Plan looks like this:

Monday March 3rd: Meet Point in Branford FL on US 27
    Stay over in Lakeland

Tuesday March 4th: Ride to Everglades City and Florida City
    Stay over in Florida City

Wednesday March 5th: Ride US 1 down the Keys to Key West
    Stay over in Key West

Thursday March 6th: Ride back to Florida City with probably a seaside picnic lunch (like we usually do, if the tables survived the storms)
Afternoon - Evening ride in Everglades National Park out to Flamingo
    Stay over in Florida City

    Friday March 7th: TBD
Head north probably to Belle Glade and Lake Okeechobee (only 150 miles / 3 hours)
Maybe stop at Coral Castle before heading out as that is quite amazing.
Stay over TBD in central Florida

If you are interested PM me for more information

    Jeff

Hmmm, a quick little run for a part of it just might be in the cards for me. Still debating whether or not to catch a ride up to Southern PA for something happening on the first.

I'll keep an eye on the thread.

Be GREAT to see you again and do some riding.

I will likely end up in Valdosta on Sunday March 2nd. Then EZ ride to the Meet Point on Monday 3/3.
PM me if you would like the motel info for any of the nights.

If I don't go to PA I'll be camping near Inglis, FL which is on the Gulf side about 75 "crow miles" north of Tampa. I'm here in Ocala for about another week.

Update: The quick trip up to Allentown probably won't happen for me and it's hard to say if I'll be sticking around Inglis for too long. The no-see-ums are horrid here! Also, looking at the polar vortex forecast it looks like there's a good chance of another VERY cold blast headed his way in another week in which case I'm probably going to high tail it back down to the everglades at least for a little while.

yes, yes, yes those no-see-ums are especially brutal down that way.
I've gotten eaten alive down there along the Suwanee River. Those suckers are certainly relentless.
(only thing worse I have ever experienced are the darn biting flies on the Salt Flats in Death Valley. They (in the thousands) were looking for MEAT)

So yeah, if you are going to be skipping the PA run and instead heading south then won't expect to see you in Dunnellon on 3/3.

However, FWIW the group will be staying in Florida City on Tues 3/4 and Thurs 3/6. Planning to ride across Everglades to Flamingo on afternoon of 3/6.
Or join us Wed 3/5 heading down Hwy 1 from Florida City. Hope we can somehow hookup during the ride.
