Only 2 Weeks to Rally Time .................

Here is our 20th Rally Schedule of Events. Just a quick overview of 'What is When' for the Attendees, and includes a few Tips.
Gee, 20 XSSE / VYR Rallies, that's quite a few.

This link should open as a PDF file for your viewing (if you have PDF Reader)
    2021 VYR Events Schedule.pdf

This link should open up WORD Doc (if you have Microsoft Word)
    2021 VYR Events Schedule.docx

If you don't have PDF Reader or Word then go to the website and Click on the Information Icon next to ** NEW ** and open the Schedule of Events
    www.vintageyamaharally.com

Hope your bike(s) is ready to ride. Mine isn't yet. Work on that problem next week.
Looking forward to seeing you at Iron Horse.

Hopefully next year all our Canadian friends can get across the border and make their way to Stecoah NC like they used to. WE MISS YOU.

Hopefully not to many of you will be needing to take Uber to the Rally
i'm getting marginal at needing to snag a ride up with an Uber if my XS11 doesn't get finished by next week

Global Supply Chain issues hit home
Seems a lot of our Parts and even cloth for T-Shirts is getting delayed in these 100+ Container Ships anchored
around the USA awaiting unloading. What a mess. Items not being manufactured and if they are they being delayed in shipping gridlock

It seem T-Shirts in most sizes and colors (from the distribution warehouses nationwide) are getting about as hard to get as toilet paper was last year.
We got lucky getting our Rally Shirts locked in when we did. Had a few snags, but we will be ok.

So I hope you have your bike ready to ride. Trailer it or Ride it to Rally or Uber there, it will be fun no matter what mode is used to get to Iron Horse

Attending the 20th SE Rally? Its next week .............
Iron Horse just sent out the Dinner (guess some folks call it Supper) Menus. So check your emails, make your choices and send your selections back to Iron Horse

        Reminders:
        > if you have a Roommate they will also need to make their Dinner Menu selections and send them into Iron Horse separately
        > Your Breakfast choices can be made when you Check-In at Iron Horse Motorcycle Lodge
        > Iron Horse does not serve Lunch (since most everybody is out riding)
        > Graham County is a 'dry county' so if you need more that ice tea-coffee-soda-water then bring your own fizzy water or stiff drink

Of course more Info and pics are over at the Rally Facebook site: Vintage Yamaha Rally - Home | Facebook

Nancy & I received our selection menus yesterday. I'll post them to FB tonight.

The Yamaha Attendee will be Yamaha's National Service Manager "Steve" and his wife Marianne. I was told by the Regional Sales Manager that Steve's collection of Vintage bikes is quite extensive including XS750, XS650, RD 400 and several others. I don't know if he owns an XS11. I believe he may be riding his RD400.

Looking forward to the rally. My first ever. My Buddy and I will be up Friday. Unfortunately his Mom’s funeral is Friday morning so we will not arrive until evening from Mooresville NC. About 3 hours away.

My bike is not near ready, however I look forward to being inspired! So we are 4 wheeling it.

                John,

Sorry to hear about your friend's Momma.

Looking forward to meeting you. Pending a short discussion of your recent experience on 2-wheels, I may be able to find a bike you can ride.

                        No cigar, but Close
Was planning to ride the Michigan E i have been working on for 2 years.
Got close but it needs a few adjustments and more local test riding before I ride it too far.
Have run it 4 times and 27 miles. Very pleased so far with way it goes zoom-zoom compared with my other two E's

Only has 9,000 miles and after freeing stuck pistons and refurbishing brakes, bearings etc. etc. etc. it runs like a new E

bike from northern michigan so think dirt roads and salt, more work than i was expecting

Tank needed a little work as PO had gotten 'overly aggressive' with aircraft stripper and house paint scraper

some pretty good dents too. Forward left front pretty caved in, and a few hefty dings around the tank

So taking 'other E' the Baltimore bike.
Looking forward to the Rally, hanging out at Iron Horse and doing some riding

Weather setup seems to be in our favor sweeping out all the lingering crud from Hurricane Nichols and leaving us sunny skies 75 degree days and 50 at night.
yippie ......... Driving north Thursday AM with expected noon arrival

I'll finish packing today and leave tomorrw morning.....spending the night in Dayton with Brother-in-Law Nick and sister Lynn.

Nick and I should arrive in time for dinner on Thursday.

I have added 4 more hours to my drive this year, since we moved further north after I "retired".

Arriving Stecoah NC and looking for Iron Horse?

Zipping down NC Hwy 28 the landmark for the turn was always the Stecoah Diner and their nice blue building.
Well, it burned down on August 2nd. So its now gone. Really sad as they were really nice people and had great food. Not going to rebuild.

So this is just an FWIW / FYI that our landmark for the turn onto Lower Stecoah Road isn't there. So don't go back & forth on Hwy 28 looking for the Stecoah Diner.
There is a low profile Iron Horse sign on the north side of NC28 and we will have our VINTAGE YAMAHA RALLY blue & yellow yard sign out on the Hwy 28 as a reminder of where to turn.

Seems the weather will be about perfect for the 1st day of Fall and the entire weekend.
                              See you at the Rally
