  • Natchez Trace Parkway Ride

Would anyone be interested in a ride down the Natchez Trace Parkway from Nashville? It is a restricted(from commercial traffic) highway that goes from Nashville to Tupelo Mississippi. Quite a nice ride with lots of pretty country.

      Robreil,

When it cools off sounds great to me. I guess that would be middle of September or so. I used to live in Cobb Co. Had a Kawasaki three cyl. 350 then. That was in the early 70s when the interstate stopped in Marietta. It's changed a lot since then.

I was glad to get your responce and see that there are XSives in the south. The XS650 riders are planning a ride in the Smokies in late Sept., so you might be interested in that one.

      Keep in touch!

I have an XS850 with Windjammer as my touring steed but also subscribe to the 650/Triples/1100, and XJ list. We are all trying to get a cross yamaha ride together in that timeframe.

Glad you are interested. Lets do it.

I like cold weather rides so that sounds really good to me. Just hope you done mind riding with a 3 legged dog.

          Robert,

I look forward to meeting you and riding with you. I just hope my XS11 is running the way it should by then. I have only had it for about a month and having some intermittent backfiring and sputtering.

Sounds like a lean condition. how does your bike idle? Maybe your pilot circuit on the carbs is clogged up a bit. You should NEED choke to start it and not be able to start it dead cold without it. If it seems to not want to get off of choke then you indeed do have clogged pilot jets.

Looking forward to a get together.

              Robert,

I think it is a lean condition, but it is intermittent. I think I still have a fuel delivery problem - Octopus. I am trying to make it work even though everyone says to throw it away. I put it all back together yesterday and it runs great and then it doesn't. It starts and always idles well even when it doesn't want to come off idle. I'll work on it more this week. It's just too hot right now.

Sounds interesting! Just need to know the details in order to plan (may only be able to fit 1 overnight riding trip into the schedule).

The trip down the parkway sounds fun, but I have heard that speed is strictly controlled - any truth to that?

Yeh, low speed limit so it would be just for cruising and enjoying the scenery. It's for recreation only - no commercial vehicles.
