I actually seldom see trucks on the Dragon. In reality mostly never, which makes the occasional truck even more dangerous because it is unexpected. Startling and breaks concentration, especially if the truck is in the wrong lane or has the front bumper (license plate) right above the yellow line. Same though for a Harley that blows a curve and comes at you head-on.

As Marty posted on the Savannah River Ride thread he almost 'bit it' when an empty logging truck rocketing down the mountain in NC and in a nano-second appeared in our lane on a sharp blind curve. Marty's skills kept him from getting creamed in a bad head-on. He dove for the edge of the pavement in a curve and kept the bike on the road. Like we say at the SE Rally safety meeting; "If you go off the road anywhere up here you ain't getting back on" -and- its "going be ugly".

As most of us agree, these are public highways not race tracks and we are out to have some fun and fellowship and not kill ourselves. I've know I've lucky the way I like to turn up the volume in curves. This IMHO is a bit over the top for a public road (although the dragon is better than most race tracks)

at least its a Yamaha ...........
You can see why public & police have problems up there ................

I couldn't believe it when we encountered that big rig trying to navigate those extreme twisty curves on that last run we did with Marty at XSSE this past year!

Why in the world was that truck driver even attempting it?
I would have thought Semis pulling 52' trailers shouldn't be allowed on those roads... nor should they want to even try it!

I was glad it was a non-issue for our group that day, given the timing and circumstances.

Glad to hear you're ok Marty, and you managed to escape this one!

wow that was a blur....I recall that truck too but i was so into our ride that the truck was out of my head as quickly as it was to go by it...until now I never even gave it a second thought...I didnt stop to ponder WTF it was doing there it was just there and i dealt with it. It didnt take me aback because i always try to expect what is unexpected...
