  • brasstown bald mayan city

1100 year old Mayan city found at brass town bald. The roads around there are awesome. Earl, bne and I got some good pics of the bikes there a couple years ago.
As soon as I get more info and if the weather permits I plan on riding up next week if possible. I'm off work luckily! Let me know if any ones interested in a winter Mayan wonderland discovery ride next week.

    N Ga Ride

Lets see? - sunny with temps in low 60's, yes I'd like to ride. (not bad for the end of December....) Either Wed-Thu-Fri-Sat is fine with me. Heard the Mayan site is bogus but can do some exploring on GA180, the Richard Russell and B-Bald. I will call Brent if you pick a day & time. Could meet on Jesse Jewell in GVL or wherever.

It would be some awesome riding...this time last year we had 8.5" of snow on the ground here...it would be more than a day trip for me though...would need overnite accomodations..ah kinda short notice...i'm supposed to go on an ST-Owner New Yrs Day ride to Morrow mtn NC which is a heckuva alot closer to home...
From the sounds of it I am skeptical abt there being an 1100 y.o. Mayan ruins in N.GA.

FYI: Brent and I are meeting at 10AM in Atlanta to ride up to Rabbittown. Waffle House on I-85 exit 104. Waffle House is on right just past Best Buy on Pleasant Hill. (corner of Pleasant Hill and Shackleford Rd / Breckenridge Blvd). Pull time about 10:10 so we are on time for the 11am meet further north. In case you are interested in riding up as a group from Atlanta, this is where we will meet & start the ride.

it was great except for the huge piles of quicksand on the road going up to brass town bald.
