Alas, it looks as though I'm out, too. Been planning on the trip ever since the last one (HIGHLY recommended for those of you who are on the fence), but the Georgia State Defense Force has scheduled a drill for that weekend, and as a unit commander with a unit somewhat in flux, I really need not to miss the Feb. drill.

And then, Home Depot charging $900 for a simple water heater install just inside the garage door (Total cost $1,700) isn't helping the travel budget any. Planning to go to general quarters with them over that one.

i am using a small landscape trailer, for a lawn tactor my bike just fits on a angle, have flairing and bags and rear box.

Somebody was talking about a place to stay in Key West... A few years back (Feb 2005) we stayed at this place It's right near the action or within walking distance.

Hi Y'all,

It seems there have been a few cancellations for the ride
to Key west, Not sure exactly why. I am still planning on
going. There is plenty of room for any lurkers who want to
ride along. Leaving wednesday morning from north of
Atlanta.

Atlanta weather forcast;

Tuesday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 24.
Northwest wind between 15 and 20 mph, with gusts as high as
30 mph.

Wednesday: Sunny, with a high near 38. Northwest wind
between 15 and 20 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph.

Wednesday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 21.
Northwest wind between 5 and 10 mph, with gusts as high as
15 mph.

the ride to key west

thanks phil. DAY ONE: left a-town 11:30, cold snowing, so we went west, on 78, then south 81 all the bypass,spurs to 95. made it to rocky mount n.c. bike is good on the trailer, running speeds of 60-65 mph. so we start another day try to get on the road by 9 am. temp here at n.c. 29f.

16 f here in GA this morning. I think I will wait for it to warm in to the 20's before I leave. Should have plenty of time to make it to Don"s place.

day two: we are at ormond beach. still cold but the sun is out. about 3 hours to port st. luice. start preping bike for the keys, met brent and don and ???. friday. about a three hour ride to them on west side, right over 70

Arrived home From FL at 7:15 pm Tuesday night. Another XSellent Adventure.

I loaded up some water from the Fountain of Youth and brought it home. Midlife - what crises? I have been here for many years & like it. Have fun as you can. See you in the spring.
