In all seriousness (on this site?! am I crazy?!) I could use a valve clearance check and a sync. Although Ivan may read this and get bored and do both next time I come out. It wouldn't surprise me, he's a great guy like that.

I'm betting still in Kansas. After all, where else in the world can oen person be hit by som many vehicles in so many ways in such a short period of time. Anywhere else would be boring!

Just wait until the next round of the rumor mill starts....

I've been to Hutch... I would have thought it qualified... but you really seem to liven the place up, Ivan...

So, now that I've got my saddle bags mounted, I'm 75% sure I'll be able to come...that is, if y'all want me. I'm liable to be a lot of work, ask too many questions, and maybe even slow a ride down just a little bit...oh, and I'll probably take the cake for ugliest bike, unless we decide to make my bike a stocker while we're at it (fairing doesn't match saddle bags, which don't match the trunk, none of which match the bike, but they all are some variant on macho maroon).
On the bright side, I won't sneak anyone else's beer (don't drink) and wherever I can help, I got two hands and a brain and can usually use at least one of the three in a productive fashion.
That being said, I'm new to bikes, so if something ain't obviously broken, I probably won't know it needs work. Things I'm pretty sure need to get done or that I want to do because I want to know how and figure they should be done regularly anyway, or because I just don't have the tools b/c I haven't ever had a long term job in my life and I feel like I'll be in school forever (sorry, this might get long):
Brakes
replace brake fluid (clean the system out)
Front fork oil (and maybe seals????)
Take a peek at all my bearings and make sure they're ok
Figure out if any of my loose electrical wires actually belong to something important or useful
decide if I need to replace throttle cable
sync carbs
decide if carbs need to be cleaned
check plugs and respective cables
clean/rebuild petcocks
clean tank/decide if I need to get it sealed
middle and final gear oil changes
shock oil (I think they have oil in them, right?)
anything that can be done about any rust any where
get the thing sparkly clean, well...within reason
anything else that we learn about while I'm there that I'm clueless about now
Like I say, you may not want me to come, and I'd understand. I know some of those things are fairly routine, but part of it is this would be my weekend to really work on the thing (law school tends to take a lot of time) and at my landlords don't take to people doing extensive work on their vehicles very well, so any time I mess with fluids its a pain b/c I'm not at home, can't wash hands when needed, not to mention, if I couldn't fix it or couldn't get it working well enough again I'd really be up the creek without a paddle. (sorry for the rant, I just got done writing a 30+ page paper so to me this seems kinda short )
Get used to the idea that no one on here will ever tell you NOT to come to a rally. Even if you had to trailer it there, you would be wanted. Your list sounds really close to all the things I've done to mine since I got it. Pretty simple, regular stuff, but still very important things that need to be done.

Just because you don't drink doesn't mean you don't buy , besides, at one point or another we may need a designated driver.

There is a good possibility that, again at some point, we may need someone with some knowledge of the law.
BTW.....when you get out of law school you still may not be able to find long term employment.
I'll be coming through Norman sometime friday morning with a trailer. I might be able to help you somehow.

Thanks Greg. I'm planning on meeting up with CatatonicBug as he passes through that same morning. My bike runs well enough so I should be able to get there with it, but maybe if we all coordinate, we can caravan down. That way if something bad happens....well, lets just hope it doesn't.
.......I'll need to stop in Gainsville and pick up my new seat and maybe a friend that might come along but we can can coordinate for safety and any emergency sake.
