Is it too early to start talking about this? For anyone who hasn't been to this rally, I highly recommend it. I have attended the last two years and it is a great time.

    It's NEVER too early!!

I think we made mention last year of having it on the weekend of Oct. 10th this year. Do you think if I get my reservation in now... they'd have time to lose it again between now and then?

ANY time is a great time for Talihina... except during the fog!

I had to stand up on my pegs most of the ride this day because I couldn't see far enough in front of me past my windshield to see the ground.. lol.

I guess I'll have to find an excuse for you so you can keep up with us. If Kat raised her bike up and wore some heels she might be able to keep up too! Maybe we're just too crazy.

              Of course I'm in...

              and hopefully, John as well...
as for raising my bike... that is getting to be more and more of a possiblity... so maybe... just maybe... you'll only have to wait 10 minutes at the end of the twisties for me to catch up rather than usual 45...

and if I wear heels... it will require a formal... and I just haven't found the right one for riding... yet...

ANY time is a great time for Talihina... except during the fog!
and possibly monsoons... but it did have its cool points too... so maybe not...

Yeah, that quality time we had in the rain, the wet tents, breaking camp in a downpour...THAT was...different. Let's hope it doesn't happen again.

That is one thing I haven't done yet is a camping trip on the bike. Might have to do that sometime.

yeah... but it's the slit in the dress that's important... I have three black formals... but I think only one of them would come close to allowing me sufficient room to ride... unless... ummmmmmmm... nevermind...
                        lol

Well... it probably would give more stability... but they would clash with the formal...

.... Trying to get Kat's bike started after the battery went dead trying to get it to crank to life.. watching the fat guy pant while trying to push start it.. (Wait, I couldn't watch ME) lol. Apparently Kat's AND their bikes don't like to get wet.

OK.. Maybe there are other times that Talimena isn't GREAT.. but even when standing under a tree in a cold turd-floating cloud-burst (Lucky I didn't float away...) the views are pretty amazing! lol.

                            Details???

                            As in, where staying, etc.?

Myself and 5 others did the Talimena at the end of last October. We hit it just right, on the peak weekend of the color change. One day up, second day rode the Trail, third day back home. There's a few pics in the Webshots album link in my sig line.

IF I've got any money and vacation time left, after the VN750 Gathering in Kentucky in August, and the VROC Reunion in Eureka Springs in September, I might be able to go. I doubt seriously that I'd be riding the XS, but I can guarantee I'd have no problem keepin' up!

Count me IN! for the October rally.
Been at the last two rallies and even went back the following week in the cager with my better half, she doesn't ride, to see the color change, great times.

Haven't decided to ride the XJ1100 or the newer Kawa Voyager XII '86 model, still working on it. Much more luggage space for sure. I would probably follow KAT as I haven't had the kawa in the twisties YET!
