Bob Falter is riding down from Iowa today (Wed) and I will be meeting up with him on I-35 tomorrow @ noon and heading on down. Anyone in the area that wants to go down Thursday and see a tranny get fixed is welcome to come along.

I can't stand it...my Microsoft Office Calendar/Scheduler keeps "popping up" a reminder of the MOM rally this weekend. I'm sorry to miss you guys (and gals).
I had knee surgery a week ago and need to rest.
Hmm...I must be a wimp. I watched Tiger Woods walk a 19 hole playoff on Monday to win the US Open, with a stress fracture and a torn ACL. Let's compare lives...He's 32 and plays golf, he's rich and "sells" Buicks, and I ride an XJ. You know something, I win.
Have a great weekend and a safe ride. slh
P.S. I'm re-building an '80 XS1100 Midnight Special. Someone needs to plan a Fall rally so I can show it off.

Just to let everyone know, I made it home fine. I had to exit right after we got back on the highway, felt like I was running on 3 cylinders. Ended up that one of the carbs was dumping gas out through the air filter. I guess the float was stuck. Turned off the fuel and tapped it a few times and it stopped. Not sure if it will do it again. I'll mess with it tomorrow.

Dell and Stan... very sorry you won't be joining us... We've been talking about moving this event to the Spring and scheduling a ride in its place in June... It's been a little on the warm side to be out working on bikes...
Hopefully, you can make it next year...
Jeremy... glad you made it home! Keep us posted... heck.. if nothing else, bring it back over... we have plenty of people to help fix whatever...
Greg
We'll call you later... or you call us later... or we can call each other later...
(you might have to say it a few times as later seems an odd name to be calling someone)
Hope all is well your way...

If I can make at least one person smile, or pee their pants a little, or maybe spit out their drink; then my day is not wasted.
I had to go on a service call this morning for a few hours. Among the other problem last night the seat wanted to slip off, so I have spent the day tearing a part the seat and figuring out a way to mount it. Going to do a hopefully better re-upholster job and add 3" foam. Decided to put a long screw through the bottom of the seat and a hole through the frame, then tighten it down with a wing nut. I should have it finished tonight and will come over tomorrow, will anyone still be there? Did Da-Bubble come down?
Hey Blue I came down but never made it over to John and Kat's. First they couldn't make it to the Dyno runs friday so I planned to see everyone today....then I got sick....really sick. I did get to ride a lot with my Dad and bro-in-law. I got dizzy and had a fever friday night and had to leave my bike at my sisters house in Balch Springs. I slept most of today and finally felt a little better this evening so we rode to the Bel Air Cafe in Princeton. Hope to meet every one next time.

I'm home also. Had a great weekend... good to see you again Bob, and thanks for the riding down there with me part of the way.
John and Kat, thank you again for your hospitality, food, tools, etc.
It was great to see those I knew, and meet those I hadn't. You all have made a lasting impression on me.... some chose to leave their impressions in the dirt. Heal soon my friend.

I want to thank John and Kat for putting this on and all the work that went into making it happen. Thanks also to all the people that came, most of whom I never met before. Every body was great.
The trip home topped it off by being great also (800 miles with an ear to ear smile). I got up on time and pulled out of North Richland a couple of minutes before 4 AM. Got home to Ely, IA, a couple of minutes before 5:30 PM (13.5 hours). The weather was cool, clear, sunny, and no wind. Just perfect until I got to windy Iowa. My old map program was wrong saying it was 920 miles. It turned out to be 884 miles. By the time I got home I was glad it was wrong on the long side and not on the short side. Being Sunday there was no traffic to speak of. That is until I got on I80 in Iowa. There was a big car race at the new race track in Newton. Of course it got over just about the time I get there. I80 was bumper to bumper in both lanes all the way from Newton to Iowa City (about 70 miles).
When I ride that far again I’m going to stick to my plan and stop and rest for an hour during the last half of the trip. Not to say I didn’t make stops (I do ride a Special). One stop for breakfast, restroom, and gas (Tod, they have a good, cheap, all you can eat buffet breakfast in Blackwell, OK), one stop for a DQ lunch, restroom, and gas, one stop to get maps, water and use restroom at a Missouri rest area (this is where the old guy was suppose to take the hour nap) and seven gas and go stops.
Kat and John, thanks again, I hope to do it again next year.
Off to help with the flood clean up,
Bob
PS: I can wait to see Kat's ride report and a synopsis of the event also.
