  • Bob Jones Memorial Ride

Karla Jones asked me to pass this along to all who are interested. . . Bohn

    Hi Guys,

We decided on a date for the Memorial ride for Bob. Saturday June 7th we will meet in Harrison, Arkansas at 9:30 at the Hardee’s. Please mark your calendars. We will then go down 7 Hwy about one hour to a spot in the mountains Charlie and Bob used to stop at. Please contact me with questions or concerns. Also, please send on or contact anyone else you know is interested. I’ll get back to you with more information later (the exact address of Hardees).

    Thanks,

    Karla Jones

I’m planning on going but will be coming from the north. Should arrive Friday, maybe late. Were is everybody (if there is any body) staying? There are some members from Kansas that are thinking about going.

        Eureka Springs or Harrison

For those that are planning on attending the memorial ride, where are you planning on staying? In Harrison or in Eureka Springs. At the Talihina rally the majority of the people stayed at the same motel which made for good conversation of the evening after the ride, so I thought if the same arrangement was made that would be nice.

Harrison only has a few hotels listed and are between 60-80 bucks. I called hotels.com and asked their best rate for the Days inn. She told me $60. I told her thank you and went to hang up.. then she said she could knock 10% off that room rate. I was like... "I just asked for your best rate... then you give me a better rate? If I go to hang up again, can you beat THAT price too?" Some people just don't think I'm very funny (Like hotel.com employees)... but I sure crack ME up! lol. So... it ended up being $54 + tax title and license. Total was 127.46 with tax for 2 nights.

I called the Days Inn directly and got a grumpy quote of $58 for a king room, and $53 for one with two queens (I am hoping she meant the beds)

The cheapest I found was Ozark Mountain Inn with a quote of 39.99, but the rooms only have 2 twin beds, no king or queens.

Eureka Springs is 43 miles away and has a TON of nice little hotels for under $50 inc. tax. Branson is a bit closer at 34 miles with any range of rooms you could want.

          So there ya go.

            Places To Stay

On the Talihina Rallye last year I stayed the first night at a place in Branson called the Dockers Inn. It was reasonable and included a full breakfast buffet at the Dockers Restaurant next door. Bohn

Looks like many of us will be staying in Harrison.

                Skippy and SWMBO will attend

We visited with Bagger Dave, and have made tentative plans to leave Houston Friday morning, meet the Metroplex contingent in Texarkana and then ride into Harrison.

                  Hey guys,

I am trying to get a group from the Kansas City area organized to ride down to Branson on the Friday before the ride. We are going to try to leave sometime around midday or early afternoon. I will be staying at Dockers motel and Restaurant in Branson. Like Bohn said it is a really nice place, reasonably priced. and has a good breakfast buffet free with a the room. Let me know what you all think. I will be checking this thread regularly, or shoot me an email at rjludvicek@yahoo.com. Hope to see you all real soon!

I wish someone would have posted this stuff sooner. Most of us have already made reservations for Harrison for 2 nights. There are several people coming from the Houston area and Branson would be another 35 miles for them after they've already done 570. So, if we don't see you guys Friday, we'll see you Saturday morning.

                      Russ,
Vince and I have posted a couple times and didn't see any replies so we booked rooms in Harrison. Didn't help that there were 3 or 4 different threads for this. We are also planning on heading down on Friday. Good chance that we could travel most of the way together if you want.

That sounds great! My apologies to everyone about the lack of information. I have been very busy these last few months with a new baby, and have not been able to help Karla and Bohn plan this ride. No one has really been able to ramrod this deal, and so we have really been just flying by the seat of our pants. Like I said earlier if there is any bits of info you need just let me know and I will try to pass them along as best as I can. In the meantime Vince and I are trying to hash out a departure time for the Friday before, so I am hoping that all of us from the Kansas City area will be able to ride down together. I think that would be a blast. I am really looking forward to this ride, and getting to log some seat time with you guys. Hope to see you all real soon!

I am taking that Friday off and will be ready to leave whenever you all are. The earlier we can get on the road the better in my opinion.

Wildkat and I will be leaving D/FW Friday morning, and then meeting up with the Houston gang in Texarkana sometime in the afternoon, then caravanning on to Harrison,Ark. WK and I will be heading home after having lunch in Russellville. On Monday, we will be flying to Boston, the driving three hours into Maine to visit my Mom.
