Hey all... I'd like to get a general idea when everyone plans on being here... We need to make certain we have enough space ready for the bikes.
Would you please let us know by voting on what day you think you might be here?
As for workshops... need some ideas... webbcraft has a couple of items... but if there is nothing else... we will plan on doing some work on Foster Child...

The weather here is beautiful right now... hoping that it remains this way (60s and 70s with lots of sun)

I plan on being there friday unless I hook up with Skippy at his town and ride in with him on Saturday, unless he also is going to arrive on Friday.

Looks like I should be able to nurse my clutch till then so we can plan on a clutch R&R. I will be packing most tools needed to do this chore 'cept a inch lb torque wrench.
I also plan on packing 'nuff stuff for an oil change so we can work on it on the center stand but need to know if I can leave my grimy oil with you guys for proper disposal.

I havent done the valves since Carter was president but that could present some issues.

Been planing on doing a master cylinde rebuild. That should be an easy one also. I don't know what else has been planned for this event so I don't want to hog the whole day on my rig.

It would be great just to get the clutch done. Warrior Boy has been itchin for a duel but I been hangin back cause of massive slippage when all the tropps come online.

        Setups

I have an inch pound torque wrench, and I have several 5 gal cans for waste oil. I really can't think of anything that you will need to bring. I have enough here to totally disassemble and rebuild the bike. Let me know what you intend on bringing, and I'll let you know if I have it or not. That way you won't have shclepp a bunch of stuff around. There is an o'Reilly's nearby where you can get your oil if you don't use anything exotic. I have a valve adjusting tool and an assorment of shims, but if you should need one that I don't have, that could be a problem. Brake work shouldn't be a problem. I have a small hone for the M/C, and a reverse bleeder kit. It works great. I don't really have any pressing repairs to do, but I do have some carbs that I would like to install on Foster Child, and if we need something to do, we could have a carb cleaning, float setting, installation, and synch job. I have the engine from the Foster Child that needs to be opened up. It needs to have the crank inspected, and replace #1 con rod and piston. We could always do a dremel fix on the trans if things get slow.

Ok, looks like we are getting dialed in. I will bring new clutch discs, springs, case gasket and an oil filter. I use 10-40 GTX so that should easily be available. I am really interested in the engine surgery you have planned. The carb work would, I am sure, be of great interest to everyone since this is a major issue for our rigs. I will blow the valve adjustment part off, no need to worry about that till I can start using all the ponies. Master cylinder job is not a big issue either, brakes are working fine, just something I wanted to do.

Soooo, on that note, lets plan on the clutch job on my rig, an engine disection and a carb clean and adjust. We could go thru the sync process also, I am sure someone there would donate there rig for that job.

              carb work

I figured that since these carbs are intended for Foster Child, they would get installed, and we could synch them, and any body else's carbs that may need it. I have a 4 gauge set for the synch work. I HAVE a colortune, but a certian DumbA$$ Guru has it. Maybe he'll bring it back if he makes the trip.
I also have a couple of calipers and M/C's that I have kits to rebuild, so maybe a class on brakes too.

                Count me in

I will be there Saturday morning because I will have to go to my Dad's house in the evenings. He lives in Eastland, so every evening I will be headed that way. My birthday is on the 18th and I am going to spend it with all of you and Dad too! 41 woohoo I am still just a kid.

I will have to head back on sunday evening, my girls have school and my wife has work.

                so.... SWMBO says I'm in.......

                Thanks guys.

Also, can't think of any work to do on mine, got a shortage of dollarinies at the time. I have a small oil seep at the lower end of the jugs and cracked exhaust pipes at just close to the weep holes.

That is planned for when I get to go back up to Hartford AR and work on another chopper. He is my welder.

                    An XSive birthday bash?

Skippy344 on the 9th, you on the 18th and mine on the 21st.... but since you are the only one who will have a birthday during the actual rally... you get the spanking...

                        spankings

                        Hahahaha spankings for everyone....

Why should I get all the fun and nobody else?

A real good friend of mine from my air force days is still having problems with his 1981 XS11 standard....... I feel responsible because I conned him into buying it..... 9000 miles and 1500 bucks I think is what it was. I test drove with him on the back. I believe the old boy who sold it to him was sneaky about the carbs and had warmed it up before we got there.

Barely tries to start when choke is all the way disengaged it tries better than choke full engaged.....

So, I was thinking and my wife ( she is the carb specialist of the family ) came up with it....... it is running too rich.

All I told her was the choke was just a fuel enrichment valve.

so she answered the question.... give me some yeas or nays on this.

He is planning on attempting to show for the meeting of the mindless.....

After he retired he started a tractor company about the same time my computer company went full time.

He's a little smarter than me .... tractors get more exposure in Eastern Oklahoma than computers.

So he stays quite busy. If he doesn't make it I may try and get him to ship us his carbs and we could take a look...

John / Wildkat whatcha think about that?

That'd give us another set of carbs to sync. and check out...... If ya'll are game.

                        some feedback is always appreciated...

                          Dale

Shipping the carbs to me is cool, but they must be competley drained and dry before being shipped. We can clean, and bench synch them here. Installing them on a bike and tweaking them won't really work, because of varibles in the different bike's engines. What may be kick ass for one bike might suck on another. Especially when they are this old.

                              oil Leak

I just found a pretty good oil leak in the head gasket. I am hoping to have this problem solved in the next few days. Not sure but this could put a damper on my plans for attending. Shops around here are estimating around 800 to do the job. Is it really that hard of a job? I have no motor skills at all. any advise here would be aceppted.

I am looking forwards to meeting all of you and would really hate to miss this oppitunity.
