  • XSEast 2023

It’s that time of year to start planning for XSEast 2023. Per our discussions last year, we decided to return to Elkins WV, May 26-29, 2023.

Marty is no longer with us so I’ll take a crack at doing a route to the southwest. A 200 mile route to Craigsville past Webster Springs where we had lunch last year at Vickie’s Food Place. Wings30 said he’d look at one to the west or northwest.

I’ve reserved rooms at the Super 8 by Wyndham Elkins, same place as last year, 304-636-6500. Rate for a double is $111 per night. I figure dinners at Smoke on the Water and CJ Maggies. (My son and I were skiing at Canaan Valley last weekend. The food was good as ever.)

    Confirmation numbers 86047EE001464 through 86047EE001472.

      I plan to attend.

I was trying to figure out the general schedule..

Maybe most folks arrive May 26.....with group rides on 27th and 28th,... then most head home on the 29th?

Hope to make it, spending half the year in calif. and half in Pa. so if all goes as planned, I will bring the ol 81 venture to your party. I will get ahold of Ranger Xs1100, in Pittsburgh and Bonz in N. Carolina, also and check the interest. For those that have followed Ranger Xs1100, he has restored many an xs1100 to pristine shape and has written some great articles and books about his passion. We had an annual Colorado xs1100 rally for years with Bonz, but he moved to N. Carolina this year so that rally will be in the past. Great memories there,,,,,,ride safe,,,,Mike in San Diego, and Pa.

I made a reservation arriving Thursday afternoon May 25 and leaving Monday May 29.

My current plan is to trailer two bikes, the XS1100SF and probably the XS1100H.

If you need route ideas, Route 33 and route 250 between Elkins and Harrisonburg/Staunton are truly memorable. They each have Dragonesque stretches as they pass over the top of the mountains (south of route 28). Route 42 is probably the least boring way to connect them between Harrisburg and Staunton. I don't know if this would be a bit long for a day ride or not.

I would like to go, and I need a vacation! The bike is not outside yet, but close. I'll need to finish it and ensure it is ready for a long day's ride plus.

I hope to see you there Brian.

This is my first time to XSEast, so another familiar face is good for me.

Here's Saturday's ride, about 200 miles. We go clockwise with stops at bp, Cowen, Webster Springs and lunch at Vickies, then back to Elkins.

New member and just learning of this annual meetup, I won't be able to make it this year but my brother and I will definitely try to ride out next year if there's another one planned. I've got my '78 XS1100E just about sorted out, and he's got a really nice '79 XS750F up in Central PA that he'd ride down.
