I do like Vermont a lot, but might I suggest a little further east in the 'real mountains' (for the east, that is), in New Hampshire?
PA is always great for me as well.
Would Maine be a possibility? I know...not good for the southerners.

I have loved every XSEast I have attended but the 2009 VT rally is still my favorite...the roads were fantastic and so was the scenery...even our motel was excellent...I dunno about 2016...

Vermont was certainly memorable in many ways. For Ben & I having exhaust fall off have gone down as legends

I have the time to do organize a rally again, no problem; I just wanted to give someone else the opportunity before I jumped into it.

I am currently exploring central PA. I have some good roads in mind, nothing twisty like WV or VA or SEOH however, just nice low-traffic country roads. Problem is finding a place for us to sleep and still be within a day's ride to those country roads. Let me make some calls and test some routes out.

In the meantime, if you have a hankering for some place special, or have your own ideas or plans, feel free to jump right in.

I have family duties to attend this weekend so chat among yourselves till I get back.

Don't worry jetmechmarty we will have a rally. In the North East where the leaves are being blown off the trees and the sun is setting a lot earlier than last month. The natives are occupied in putting away our toys and buttoning up for a long winters nap. A bit early for thinking of spring......but we will get to it.
