Bruce...I've owned 2 ST1100s and ridden the ST1300 a bunch of times...I certainly wish I had one now...with a good 800 miler to get to Lake George...I'm not really wanting to ride the XS that far...its just not comfortable enough for this old bag o' bones... I'm looking to trailer it if possible... About the seat...well whomever it is in the lineup...if i dont get it then nothing gained but no loss either...sorry to hear abt your mom hope you all can manage a Merry christmas and Happy New year...hope to see you at XSEast... Also hope you are on the road to recovery from the surgery and that they were successful at getting the cancer out...cancer sucks...Take care...Last edited by madmax-im; 12-13-2014, 11:42 AM.1980 XS650G Special-Two

Best route

Yes, I have been on some of those roads. Beautiful, a good ride in that National Forrest.
The late Mike Cumming led a group of bikes in that area., We stopped at Stars Lake on 30 for Fuel, water etc. Area was sparsely populated with limited services
Traffic - Light.
Roads - Good, modern engineering, smooth pavement well maintained. (My Ride Atlas of North America 2nd edition shows about 25 km of unpaved road over Stillwater Mountain, near Big Moose). have not been there
Scenery - Beautiful.
Border crossing - I took advice of my wise friends of the Great White North and crossed at Kingston, using the ferrys. Fun, cheap enough, crossing was easy, customs quick & friendly. Would do it again.
Maxim Phil knows the "BEST ROUTE" to XSeast. I rode there with him once, meeting near Cherokee, NC. The Blue ridge Parkway is good, More smiles per mile, rather than miles per minute. Enjoy the trip. You have some really good traveling companions in the Great White North. It is a great big beautiful world out there
