I was thinking of maybe crossing in Kingston. A couple of boat rides and we are across. Border crossing should be a little nicer too. 1000 islands dumps you out on the interstate.
But as Phil said very wisely, something to think about as the snow falls.Leave a comment:

Thanks Dean,
Usually when I head to a rally I like to get there as quick as possible. The anticipation of getting there is a killer. I get so excited about seeing everyone.
When I come home I like to take my time and reflect on the weekend that was.

Trying to decide how I am getting up there myself...major metroplolitan areas to go through are no joy...otherwise its an even longer circumnaviagtion of said metropolitan areas...would add mileage and time... hmmmLeave a comment:

That route looks ok Wayne.
Another option if crossing at Ogdensburg .. 37, 58, 812, 12, 54A, 365, 8
Can use some of this if crossing earlier like Phil said.
Or, as always,
Just look for those littleist squiggly roads you see on the map!Leave a comment:

Ogdensburg is definitely farther away Phil, but its looks like a fairly direct SE route with a few twists and turns. Looks very picturesque in some spots.
Lotsa time to look, like you say.

Hi Wayne,
Not familiar with most of those roads. But Ogdensburg is a long drive down the 401. i would be inclined to cross earlier1000 island bridge?
Anyway I am saving route planning until the snow flies
it will help get me though the winter

How To Get There
I've been Googling maps on the best route to the motel. It seems if I cross at Ogdensburg, Ontario then take 68, 56, 30, to 28 looks to be the nicest route. Anybody familiar with these roads and what it's like?

Looking forward to seeing your new ride!If everything works out and Dave Steeves will ride with me. We will make the rallie. I bought a 2005 Honda ST1300 on Mon past as the XS11 is hard on me still even after 4 months after the prostate removal.....will keep the XS1100 insured and licensed and still maintained .....hoping my health hangs in till then and that I'm not a full time caregiver moreso than now.....heres hoping......the Honda sure is a pretty and well taken care of machine but has a lot to live up to!
