I've been toying with the idea, but lodging is an issue. The only place I could get that number of rooms is in Bancroft. I know you guy's have done that area before.

I say no to toying and just do it!

As for lodging... Bancroft is fine by me! Lots more roads to ride!

Well your so right about the roads up there. I don't think I'm qualified as I've only been to one as well Dwayne. I could never do as well as Wayne did last year.
I asked Rick about the cost of the shirts and hats (his) last year and I think he thought I was pissed at the cost but I wasn't. I was very impressed with the quality and thought he might have had to eat some $$ himself rather than go back and change what he'd originally quoted. I wonder if I sent him a pattern (if I do take it on) if he might consider doing that portion for us again.
Do you think there would be much interest in going to Bancroft. If there is, I can do a little research and come up with some rudimentary figures.

Thanks for the compliment Grant, but all you have to do is build it and they will come. You are just as qualified as anybody else. Start with the motel. Get good one with good prices and take it from there. Bancroft is a great place to start.

              Hi Mack,
When we tried to use Bancroft a few years ago the motels were VERY expensive so we ended up in Barrys Bay. I wanted to do Huntsville and ended up in Minden for the same reason.
Other than that Bancroft would be an excellent base to go from.

                    Room rates

Anybody remember what we paid for a room last year? I know there maybe a spread as a single with a double or queen bed would be different from a room with two double beds.

Silver Maple Motel. $85.00 + tax= $96.05. I booked a block of 15 rooms. They will fill and then double up.

                        Update

I went up to Bancroft today and talked at some length with both owners of the Bancroft Inn & Suites (BI&S)and the Best western motor Inn (BWMI). First I will deal with the BI&S: They are located about 2.5 miles out of town and have no dining facilities or group amenities, they do however provide a continental breakfast. Across the road is a very small restaurant named Rosie's it could never seat the entire group. The best rate I could get there is $104.95 plus tax per room per night.

At the BWMI the best rate I could get was $115 plus hst per room per night. However it is a fully serviced motel with liscenced dining and separate banquet room, exercise room, swimming pool C/W whirlpool tub for six, his and her sauna rooms and the parking lot is flat and paved. It is right at the end of the main street within walking distance to center of town. I talked with "Sunny" for quite awhile and managed to get him to throw in 20% off on all our meals while we're there. If you look at it, consider everything, it's not a bad deal at all since meals are about 1/2 of the weekends expense. If people want to have a beer after the rides, this is the only place you can do it without having to walk or ride.
I also talked with sonny about the report of bed bugs in some of the rooms mentioned in the client ratings. He told me that late last summer he had all the carpets, curtains, bedding and mattresses replaced with new. That shouldn't be an issue.
I know that some members may bring spouses and not require double rooms and they have a wide range of different combinations, queens, kings and fireplaces etc. I could probably talk him down on those too if I know in advance.
This is the best I can do. If this is too steep for the group, then this area is out. Someone in another geographic area will have to take over from this point on.Your thoughts gentlemen and ladies?
