I'm probably gonna regret starting this thread, but here's my thoughts.
I have the rally banner. I also have a basic (unused) T shirt design left over from last year. I will need a date and location so I can send it to Ralph for printing.
The traditional long weekend for the rally spans Friday July 1st - Monday July 4th. The Rally dates would be Saturday July 2nd and Sunday July 3rd.
As for location I will start off by nominating my new home town North Bay.
It may be a little too far north for some, about a 1 hour ride further north than last years rally in Minden.
North Bay has lots of reasonable motels, hotels and restaurants.
The ride route I have in mind would be a day ride around Tamiscaming Shores. The morning ride would be through Quebec and the afternoon through Ontario. Very scenic, good roads, enough fuel stops for Specials. There is a write up and a few pics posted in Ride Reports thread in my Quebec/Ontario Border Run post.
For those arriving early or leaving late I have some cool shorter runs.
And no, everyone cannot stay at my place, I will be at the motel with everyone else.
And yes, there will be tools, some parts and tons bad advice available if you need them. I'll be riding the Diva (79 Special).
Open to all ideas.
Thx BDF
By general agreement, The 2011 XS North Rally will be held in North Bay Ontario on July 2nd & 3rd.. I will post when I find suitably economical accomodations.
Thx BDF
Hey Gents,
I looking forward to the rally. I know this is rather early to think about routes but it's winter and I'm bored.
Most will think just ride up 400 to 11 and onward. I'll make a suggestion for you to consider. Stay on the 400 until just north of Parry Sound. You pick up 124, thru McDougall, McKellar, Dunchurch and Ahmic Harbour. End up on 11 just south of Sundridge. There are some pluses to this ride. The 400 often isn't a busy as 11 and the ride on 124 is a great break from 4 lanes. 124 is much like Midden roads, switch backs, rock cuts, forests, old 2 lane. Distance and time about the same.
Just something for you to ponder.

124 is the route I always use when heading south on the bike.
It is a very pleasant ride and can be exciting if you wick it up a bit.
There is also the bonus of bypassing some of the construction on Hwy 11
Its a great little diversion isn't it. I've an uncle in Colbalt. Glad you offered the North Bay area. Always passing thru and thinking I should do a side trips.
You know I was in my shop the other day sorting out some stuff and I'm almost out of "bad advice".

After narrowing down the field, I have a meeting scheduled for tomorrow to view accomodations and negotiate pricing with a coprorate chain.
If successful I will post the website and info.
Thx BDF
