Hey Randy (or anyone else with local knowledge),

I will be coming in on RT84 and see two interesting routes to the hotel. One is 209 thru Dingmans ferry and the water gap recreation area and the other is 402 thru the Delaware SF.

I've been on 209 before and as I recall there are several strip towns and a good amount of tourist traffic. I was wondering if the 402 is a better bet although I will have to stay on 84 for a while longer.

Russ, I would go with 402, it will hook up with 209 about 10 mi north of stroudsburg.

Short story about PA.
Few years back my brother - one of 3 brothers of mine who are cops in NJ - was chasing a stolen car with an armed robber in it. Several local police departments took turns cooking their engines chasing this guy across I-80 west towards PA. My brother's police vehicle held together along with several of the the NJ State boys and they arrived at the Delaware Water Gap toll bridge at the PA state line at an excessive rate of speed. The toll booths were blocked with PA state police who, being fiscally responsible, opened fire destroying the car and significantly wounding the felon. I am told the PA State boys did wait till he crossed the state line into PA. No liberal spike strip bean bag bullet namby pamby krap like they do in NJ.

A few bullets are cheaper than a few cooked engines. And the insurance covered the stolen car.

I was reading here where somebody was concerned about not riding an XS11 to the rally. Well, if I can be an example, at last year's rally I rode a Yammy Majesty scooter all the way from Nova Scotia (3rd longest ride by about 100 miles I believe). I was even able to keep up on the rides, well, until it got really twisty

I should be on the "new" '78 XS11 this year if I can get it ready. I'm still trying to obtain the chrome ring for the headlight. Anyone got one?

If you want Bruce aka Desert1 to come, you better do some lobbying by email. He's got a new computer so send him some emails. Hmmmm, he may just be reading this ....
