Lost Rallie 2011 Spring

So spring is right around the corner and ride fever is hitting hard. Tomorrow is calling for 55 degrees here. Here is my thought. I am still on lay-off and am not able to travel far. I would like to host again May 13th-15th. 13th meet n greet, 14th ride TBD (looking at the Savanna Area again), 15th breakfast and good-bye's. I should have one Xs up and running really hoping to have a bike for Barb running also. I have to Thank Arlan for putting this thought into my head.

I'll post hotels and directions after I get more Info.

Northern midwest ride

Lake Geneva, Wi is also a great destination.

Mapped out a ride route that should be a nice ride. Barb said we have to stop in scales mound for a meal at the chatter box. Those who rode the first Xs lost rally might remember it. I guess my wife hasn't forgot it. The map has us starting and ending in Dixon Il. But we are going to be moving around that time so I don't know which house I'll be in Most likely we will start in Polo. Good thing is polo is cheaper on motels bad there isn't really anything else. Its all the twisted backroads that messes me up.

Maybe you should add Dubuqe & the Mississippi river museum to the trip.
Haven't been there yet, but hear it's great to see.
However, I don't know Iowa helmet laws. (I don't own one).

That could be added if there was enough interest. With it add bring mileage close to 200 miles and 4 and a half hours. Not a bad ride with the few stops I have planned. Just wonder how long it would take to go through the museum.
As far as helmet laws I don't think Iowa has one. I know when we rode into Missouri we had to have them.

I'll get room rates planned out this weekend. Trying to figure out if I'm starting in Dixon or Polo. Pro's and Cons Dixon is a bigger town with more hotel choices and food. Polo only has a mom n pop hotel with about 20 rooms but the are cheaper. I want to see if at least they are decent. I should have more info posted by monday.

Iowa helmet law

Iowa doesn't have a helmet law and the mississippi river museum is real nice. it can take a couple of hours to go through if ya want I haven't been through the whole thing because they weren't finished yet. also Houe on the Rock in Wis is nice scenic ride to dodge ville Wis. also theres Balltown and also the Field of dreams in Dyersville, Iowa.. Might be able to make it Have a 1999 roadstar and am burned out on working on the xs11 so it's for sale. has a short in it . I can get it running but wires start to smoke so I shut er down. I have enough stress with work and SWMBO

I know what you mean about working on them. Fortunately my 78E rides like a dream without much attention.

But I've got a garage full of xs11's (5) & seem to be constantly behind in the refurbishing & paying the paypal bill.

Got 4 complete bikes & might sell a couple as projects.

Quit Hd's because of the constant working on them. BUT, the xs11's do seem to be more "fun" to work on. I think because of this site.

Looks like I'll set up Hq in Polo. My house is Dixon should be almost empty by May. Polo has one hotel at the south end of town small mom and pop but not to bad. I haven't been there yet to get room rates but should by Wednesday. Also there is a campground/state park 6 miles away if camping is more your cup of tea. I'll post full plans by next weekend. Thanks for all that have shown interest I'm heading out to see if I can get my bike running.
