Nasty old gasoline: what to DO with the stuff??

Having removed my carbs, I realized they were full of gasoline - I dumped the semi-rusty old stuff into the gas can for my lawnmower, and then realized, hey, whe I go to clean out my tank, what the heck am I gonna do with the rusty mucky nasty old gas?!

...any ideas?

throw it over the garage floor where some old car was leaking oil for years, have on hand a water hose and light the thing, and watch it clean up the floor...

Usually anybody that accepts used motor oil will take that too. Or you could change your oil, mix it with it... then tell them that came out of your motor? lol. OR... lol. Put it in an old cake pan on the back porch outside... it will be gone in a few days (Evaporate)

no matter what you do i would still light it, be creative watch it go up... ha ha.

no i like the recycle bit i've done it that way.

Burn, baby, burn!

Save youself some hassles, just get a metal open bucket, pan, etc, pour it into it and light it up!! Gas won't explode in this format, it'll just light up like barbecue starter fluid, and it'll burn clean/completely cause it's not under compression inside the engine, so it'll be able to mix with ALL of the Oxygen it needs to burn properly without putting out any harmful pollution, aside from carbon dioxide, heat, and water vapor, .....maybe a little sulfar stuff, but no biggie!!!

well, since it's probably next to impossible to recycle, and it won't pollute that bad since I'm burning it in open air, what the hey, I'll burn it.

I even have a big 'ole dented stainless steel bowl I can use for such a purpose.

hmmm.... I wonder if I left it in the sun, if the parabolic reflection from the shiny bowl would cause it to spontaneously combust. we shall see!

I just pour it out on oil dripping or weeds/grass in the cracks on my concrete driveway and it just goes away. One time from a bucket I did the swing thing in the road in front of my house, only problem was road is blacktop and the gas stained it. If someone would have noticed it they could have traced it right back to me. The stain stayed about 6 months.

But what Pathfinder said is correct. Would make a great edger for a sidewalk or fence..... kills stuff well. Or you could combine things. Pour it on the grass along your sidewalk or driveway... THEN light it! : )

Do what I do at work when I drain customer's tanks. Take it outside and pour it into my Blazer. Might not be the best gas around, but after mixin' with the 20 or so gallons I've got in my truck, it'll burn just fine. (Obviously after separating out the water, rust and other crud)
