  • Stainless Steel Lines

Since no one makes a kit of the XS, does anyone know what lengths, and what type of banjo bolts I need to replace my brake lines with stainless steel lines? I also have superbike bars if anyone knows what length would work best for those bars.

I've been having some trouble with my brakes, so I figured this is the time to do it.

    Check out this thread.

    http://www.xs11.com/forum/showthread...s&pagenumber=2

I got mine from Helusa for my XJ and I love em.

T.C. got some for his XS and he loves them too.

As far as the lengths I can't help you there (I have an XJ)

I'm sure those who have done the same to there XS can chime in.

Good luck, and shiney side up.

I recently replaced my front lines with a kit from cyclebrakes.com (their website seems to be under reconstruction at the moment.)

I wanted to stay with the stock configuration so I just sent them the assembly for duplication. It came with new bolts and washers and I'm pretty happy with it.

Following is an email reply describing their kit that eliminates the short line to the distributor. (i.e. two lines from the master cylinder)

        ""Hi Rob,
Galfer lists a part # for the 1979 XS1100 (no other bike breakdown) as
FK003D156. I suggest you verify their specs against your bike before
ordering this part number and if they don't match then we can have lines
        custom made for you.
        Here's the dimensions:
Front 2 lines from MC to calipers: Front/Right: Straight banjo --- 37"
        center-center --- 12' banjo, Front/Left: 12 degree banjos on both ends and
        39" center to center.
Rear has 40' banjos on both ends and 21" center to center.

Combo price is $119 for front and rear.

If this doesn't match your bike then we can have them custom made with
        same/next day turnaround.
You can just send us the lines by mail for copying to:

        Attn: Cycle Brakes Custom Lines
        c/o GALFER
        310 Irving St.
        Oxnard, CA 93030

Our fax a drawing with dimensions. Pictures and directions are found by
clicking on this link: http://www.cyclebrakes.com/html/custom_lines.html .
Add $5 per kit in custom charges.

Color choices for the stainless steel brake lines are free and currently the
coatings are available in red, orange, yellow, green, blue, clear, smoke or
opaque black. The lines include banjo bolts and washers. Lines come with
silver colored fittings standard, but you may upgrade to Gold fittings ($10
per kit) or Aluminum fittings for an additional cost.

Now we also carry: Rebuild kits for master cylinders, clutches & calipers
        for most Japanese motorcycles.

BLEEDING & CLEANING ITEMS: Galfer Brake Fluid in Dot 4 is available for sale
price of $5.99, approx. 17 oz. This is enough to do the brake system. Galfer
Dot 5.1 is on sale for $7.49, approx. 8 oz. We also have speed bleeders at
$10 each, bleeder bolts for the master cylinder and vacuum pumps at $45.
Motorex Brake Clean for $8.99 and Rotor polishing kits, $52.99 for new Flex
Hone which attaches to a hand-held drill.

Order more than $200 and Ground shipping is just $5 (see website for
restrictions - offer will end without notice).

        Thanks for your request,

Hey xj11john, do you happen to have the lengths and angles you ordered for your XJ? This is a project I have for the future and would like plan ahead with some information that someone else had some success with.
