What's your MPG

I'm curious about fuel mileage. I'm posting a poll...but let me know what you get and if your bike is naked or dressed/faired

This is primarily a "highway" mileage poll. I'm trying to get a feel for optimum fuel economy at speeds of 75 mph give or take.

My full dressed Maxim generally gets about 34 to 36 under these conditions.

.. i dont get to travel much, so all i can judge mine by is around town. it's 10 miles to work and thats as far as i go. with the exhaust i have on at the preasant[4 into 2], i'm going 95 miles until i hit reserve. with the previose exhaust [4 into 1 w/ R1 muff]almost 100 miles until reserve.
with the stock exhaust 79 miles until reserve. and the stock exhaust/modifide 86 miles to reserve
.. none of these numbers seem to change much, wether i was abusive or took it easy, except the 4/1 with R1 muff, if you stayed to the left of the big dip in the torque line gas milage was up, if you crossed over to the big hump alot milage went down

well before i did anything to the bike the first day i got it i took it on a long trip the next day and i got 30 mpg but i have gave it a good tune up and new exhaust and redid the carbs and better coil and if i take it easy on the bike i can get right at 40 now

30 mpg in town, 34-36 hwy.

Im with Gnepig, it seems like 90miles is about the max before reserve, no matter how I drive it. I am running quite lean, and the carbs arent extremely well balanced. Maybe after those adjustments are made in the next few weeks, ill be sitting a bit better.

81 Venturer, factory dresser, around town a constant 35mpg. Last tank was at 36mpg. 200+ mile haul west on I-70 into Utah with heavy head and cross winds at 75mph getting 34mpg. On a good day, no serious winds at 75mph getting a 38mpg. Best was when it was new, and speed limit at 55mph, run a 500+ mile ride 2 up at 55-65mph and got 43hmpg. That was off the showroom floor, stock jetting and riding at 6,500-7,200ft. elev. Back then it would puff a little black smoke with gear changes running a bit rich, so I know a 45-50mpg @65mph is possible. Replacement 81 motor I put in last Oct. had 33K on it + 5K I've put on since. I'm sure a valve adjustment and carb sync. would improve overall performance and mileage. It also still has it's original rust-free stock exhaust with no discoloration on pipes.

79 XSSF,
78 standard fairing/lowers with trunk. Standard 5+ gallon tank, 4 into 1 winning preformance header exhaust, K&N air filter drilled out air box, 145 mains and 45 pilots. 70 mph around 35 mpg, 75 and above gas milage varies 29 to 33 mpg.

My E with Pacifico fairing and lowers, hard bags, hard trunk, me weighing 240. I get to 100-120 miles before reserve around town. 150 miles on the highway. Jardine 4 into 2, K&N, Dyna coils.

My LG is stock (well K&N) and I go 95-110 miles before red light or reserve. It does have the small cafe fairing.

I average about 40mpg. But, I'll be going up one jet size with a UNI filter, so I may get less mpg and more punch (I hope)

Oh certainly. Two years ago in Big Bend NationalPark...the speed limit is 45...we were riding 55 mostly at altitudes of 3500 to 7000 in the park...I rode 127 miles on 2.6 gallons (48+ mpg). But to get that you have to really slow down.

With a 8mpg Power Wagon sitting in the driveway, anything is better!! Usually pull low 30's on my full dress hardbagger, cept on rally rides.

I got 40 one time coming down the canal from Port Angeles on US101 (from Sid's house). It was an unusual 85 degrees and no wind. Speed was 55-60. Typically I get 35-38.

The worst I got was 20mpg. 100mph+ for a 100 miles. Almost ran out of gas. The bike loved it.

Windshield, leather bags, me at 265, and bike running rich.... where is that 25-30 mpg option? lol.

When I first started riding this thing with the carbs gummed up and not synch'd.... about 18 was all I got. My buddy on his Hardly just shakes his head as I turn into every gas station... lol. He gets about 52 mpg, so I make him buy most of the beer!
