while putting my new set of jets in, I removed the caps from the pilots, started loosening them, they're already loose. well, not snug. And they turn and turn without coming out. Am I missing something? Won't tighten either. This is on my '79 sh.

Hey ApolloAnt,
I've had some Pilot jets get stuck due to gum/varnish around the ends below the threads, as well as in the upper tower. You may need to stick a fine wire down into the opening of the jet to try to hook it and get it pulled out. Or you may try some air pressure blowing into the Pilot Screw hole may help to push it out!
As for it not tightening back up??? Don't know if the threads got stripped, or what!?!?
ARE YOU SURE YOUR SCREWDRIVER IS FITTING INTO THE PILOT JET HEAD SLOT??? IT's a very tight fit, and a screwdriver can seem like it fits, but it actually hitting the shoulder of the pilot tower?? I took a screwdriver and ran it on a grinder wheel to narrow the sides so that it would fit into the pilot jet tower well
