Group,
Here is what we know after doing some switch swapping between Dads and my bikes.
Dads electrical system=Good!
My electrical system =BAD!
My New (used) alternator charges Dads battery (14.5volts) and has live tach. Does not charge my battery and tach is dead.
My Old (originally thought to be bad) rectifier regulator produces charge (14.5volts) on Dads bike.
We did resistance tests on both bikes between the 3 white wires going from the stator wiring harness end to the regulator wiring harness end and got similar results.
My New (used) reserve lighting unit works on my bike.
My Old (originally thought to be bad) reserve lighting unit works on my bike.
Both RLUs took some fidgeting to get the headlight (both high and low beams) and computer idiot warnings to stay on. We noticed a hot connection at the blue and white wire when we tried to diagnose this problem before the deuce.
Questions:
So, what’s next? The rotor on my bike looks a lot darker on my bike than Dad’s. Do these things get burnt? Is there a possible problem with my wiring harness? Anybody got a Bandit they want to trade me? ;-)
Any and all comments welcome!
Thanks,
Kirk
