  • Timing Question

On my 1980 ws 1100 the timing plate is held down with two screws, to describe mine they are like allen wrench ends. Does anyone know what size of socket I need. My smallest socket is a 5/32 "standard" and it is to big. I probably need a metric size too. Any ideas?

If it's an 80 then those may be breakaway bolts. The EPA didn't want people playing with the timing after 79. You may end up having to replace those timing plate bolts.

You might want to think about getting a set of metric Allen wrenches mounted into a 3/8 socket set. Sears has a set.
