I want to put tubeless tires on my 78e. So what years and models will interchange with the xs? And does any one want to trade wheels. I don't like tube tires on motorcycles. Will be gone for 3 or 4 days so will not answer for a while.

    Thanks Tom

Hey ther Tom, you can run tubeless on all your rides.
81H Venturer1100 "The Bentley" (on steroids) 97 Yamaha YZ250(age reducer) 92 Honda ST1100 "Twisty"(touring rocket) Age is relative to the number of seconds counted 'airing' out an 85ft. table-top.

I thought you could just throw a valve stem in any of the wheels and make them tubeless? But I agree with you Tom, a tube is just another way to have a flat. Good luck. I have a couple extra wheels, but they would need some serious work to clean back up.

          COOL TOM,

You're right to be looking for a later set of rims. The early ones (78 and half of the 79 year) were tube type rims.

You cannot mount tubeless tires on tube type rims and expect to live to tell about it.

So, look for any standard (some F's ,all G's, all H's) set of rims and stamped clearly on one of the spokes you'll see "SUITABLE FOR TUBELESS TIRES"
