Elite 3's

What kind of results did you have with the new Dunlop Elite iii's? Searched and did not find much. They look pretty good so far from my research, but they seem "untested" in real life in my opinion... My first bike and the current tires are oooooldddd, front is ching shen *sp? and rear is continental.

I believe the ELite 3's are much like the 2's, Matt. I think we've got one here on our 80g. I think I remember that we couldn't find a 2 because it has been replaced by the 3. Anyway, it's a hard compound(high milage) tire. One of the few you can get over 5000 mi out of on the rear. Obviously, not the best in the twisties. After having a Bridge. Spitfire, the rider went down during last years rally, in a turn. We think that he might have pulled through if we hadn't put the Dunlop on. He was also fatigued, and running out of daylight. But that little extra traction may have been enough to avoid the fall.

I've got an Elite 3 on my Valkyrie front at the moment...decent tire, but I like the Avon Venom R better (crisper turn in, longer mileage).

Got the venom front on the XS... really nice milage and unbeliveably good grip... but not so much in wet... what do you think Danny? Am I just being picky... coz I'm gonna have to change the complete set this autmn (I hope... got a new rear.. want to do some miles) and I thaught about switching to BT45s...

Well, on the Valk, the Venom R is very grippy, but noticibly less so in the wet. The E3 seems about the same, but with less crisp turn-in.

I ran Dunnie 491's and then Maxxis Dual Compound tires on the XS...Loved the Maxxis...until they cracked. Dunnies were okay.

Metzlers always seem to be grippy, but low mileage.
