  • xj maxim 1984

    hi

i'm new on this board and want to say hello.

i just bought the bike of my dreams, a 1984 xj 1100l maxim and i am trying to renovate it (was standing for 9 years in the garage of a friend. he bought it in canada and took it to austria).

i will add pictures to the gallery as soon as it is ready to ride..

it looks exactly like the maxims on the picture gallery.
i read the maxim was just built in 1982??? so how can it be a 1984??

Canadian versions were made till 1984...

Nice to see someone from more or less my end of the woods

    Ride safe!
If it doesn't have an engine, it's not a sport, it's only a game.

      hi strom,

you are not too far away for a nice trip.
maybe (when my baby is ready) we can meet sometime and ride through our woods.
guess, a xs/xj-europe meeting would be a nice idea. has there been anything similar yet? or are there not enough of our kind in eu?

I know there is a fairly large group in the Netherlands. The have a web page with some nice bikes on it. http://xs1100.com/
I know I have seen a webpage of XS/XJ riders in Germany but cant find it right now.

          Hello!

Anyway the XJ was available in the US only in 82, but it was available in Canada in 83 and 84 as well. Not sure if it was offered elsewhere during those model years.

I'm not even sure it was manufactured after 82. Could just be old stock.

              wow,
              what a warm wellcome.
thank you for your answers so far. they helped me a lot.

it is in fact a canadian xj, so 1984 may be the right year of birth.

              thanx again

OK, you work on your babies, and I'll work on the XS... maybe on route 69.

                http://www.route69.at/

I'm planning to do that as soon as the bike runs more or less reliably and I get it legal... next year... oldtimer and stuff... (registration here bout 600$ with no bonus, oldtimers 60-250$).
