Any xj1100 rotors for sale?

The XJ rotor is wound with wires, and the XS rotor is just a hunk of steel. That is the difference. The bolt patterens are the same on both engines. The end of the crankshaft is the same, tapered, on both engines. The XJ rotor will not work in an XS system, or vice versa.

They may. I think the voltage regulator is the same between the two bikes. If not, just swap them out. The connectors may be the same. Everything will bolt right up. I ran an XJ engine in my bike for years, but I swapped all of the XS's parts onto the XJ engine.

I've been trying for the last two months to get other rotors to fit my xj, and finally found an xj650 rotor that had the same diameter as my broken xj1100 rotor. I had to have it milled to fit on the crank, because the rotor didnt slide back far enough on the crank. It runs with the 650 rotor, but it doesn't have enough juice to charge the battery. whith the xs11 rotors, they too didn't slide back far enough on the crank to work. would it be possible to mill an xs1100 rotor, and get the rest of the stator and charging system to fit the xj1100? I would love to do that also for the heavier rotor and more tork!!!

OK... I don't exactly know what I have now. I know I have the XJ side cover that says "YICS" under the Yamaha. I also know that the numbers on my motor indicate that I have a '78 XS motor. I also know that I have the big chunk of metal for a rotor, as I just took this off and replaced the seal, but I couldn't tell you the difference in the stator or alternator to tell you what is under the cap. I do know that I have had no charging problems on my XJ with this alternator except for the fact that when I pull up to a stop, at idle, my headlight does dim ever so slightly.

Getting Juiced over Cranks!
Hey GNEPIG,
I thought I had done this research before, but here it is again:
78E=2H7-11411-02-00 CRANKSHAFT (2H7-11411-01)
82XJ= 2H7-11411-02-00 CRANKSHAFT
The cranks are the same for ALL of them!! So....if you get all of the parts for an XS11 alternator, it'll fit on the XJ crankshaft, the engine cases are the same, it's just the outer ALT cover housing that's different!
