Help! just broke off a fork axle cap stud..

It broke off just below the cap so there is about an 1/2 inch or so left. Gotta fix it to go to work tomorrow!!!!

I would try to heat it up some with a propane torch, and then use vice grips to remove the remaining stud. Concentrate the flame on one small area alomngside the stud, and havethe vice grips already clamped on. They will be ready to go and will act like a heatsink. The aluminum will heat and cool quicker than the steel stud. You may be able to find a new stud at Ace/ True Value or Home Depot/Lowes. Possibly an auto parts store will have one.

I would also use a little PB Blaster on the stud. I think you have a standard 8mm stud, so you should be able to get one almost anyplace. Be sure to use a little red loctight on the new stud, so it will stay in when you pull the nut the first time.

done mine a while back used a studd remover to get in out and then took one out of a old set of fork`s

Thanks for the help...

I was able to clamp the fork down and unscrew the stud with a vice grips...
Picked up a stud at an auto supply and used red threadlocker....

I had to redo the fork seals because the ebay seals were too tight.

Now it rides like a new stock front end!
