Does anyone have a 78 or79 Standard seat pan and /or seat?
I need a pan real bad as mine is just a hunk of rust. Went to lift up seat and part of the pan came loose with the cover. PO recovered it with a king/queen style seat cover. I like this style seat and am looking for a new cover. So can someone tell me were to get a king/queen cover that will fit a Standard seat pan.
Also does the metal strip that run on the outside of the seat need to be on there or is it just for show?

    Thanks Tom

The king queen seat is in the new Dennis Kirk catalog, $119.00 IIRC. I was looking at it last night. I am also in some need of a pan, I'd like to get that cover and foam and put on a good pan. The seat I have is good so I don't want to strip it to make a King Queen.
Small tech tip. Before covering, get a gel pad for the largest bicycle seat you can find, strip off everything untill down to just the gel then place the gel on the foam and draw a line around it with a sharpie marker. Mark a single edged razor blade at about 3/4". Now cut to depth around the inside of the mark on the foam. It needs to be a tight fit so it doesn't try and move around. Then carefully cut out the shape to depth in one piece. Then place the gel pad into the cavity you just created. make sure it is cut deep enough by placing the pad in the foam to where it is just over the top (1/16-1/8") of the original foam. If its to low take the piece you just cut out and shim the pad or if to high cut it out a little deeper. Cover as normal and ride.
Total price of gel pad $19.00 where I had this bright idea, you can get it cheaper at Wal-mart.
I did my std seat that way and found my a$$ don't hurt like it used to after 300 miles. To me, well worth the time (1 hour including covering the seat) and $$$

I may have a touring (bucket) seat, what I think some call a K/Q seat around here. I'll look tomorrow.
