    airbox gunk

Things are starting to warm up here in Iowa so I ventured out to the garage again to work on the XS. I've got the carbs off and cleaned and noticed that the airbox has a thin film of oily crap all inside. Should I clean that out (does it affect performance) and if so what should be used to do so. Thanks.

It is probably oil condensation from the crankcase vent hose that leads to the airbox. Just wash it out with dish soap and let it dry. It'll be alright.

Agree with John. Oil could also be from the air filter dripping after you cleaned and re-oiled the foam part last time.
