  • throttle cable lengths?

Does anybody know the exact length of the throttle cables for an 80 special? I have access to several shorter ones to fit my bike with the superbike bars, but need to know the original lenth first so I have a starting point for working my way shorter.

The sheathing length for a Standard is 39.5 inches and the wire cable length is 42 inches. I have a brand new one (Standard) and I also put a new one(Standard) on my 80SG, but it is a little short to route properly, but that is easily overcome. I just compared part numbers, and the Special P/N is different from the Standard P/N, so I would guess about an inch and a half longer than what I wrote above. I didn't know there were any differences when I bought them on ebay, some time ago.

ok, so if I go roughly 3" shorter than the standard's length, that should get me close. I figure the change in handlebars gave me 5" extra in slack. Thanks for the help John. I appreciate it.
