Changing the front fork emblem?

Is there a easy way to change the front fork emblem?

It on a 1979 xs1100 special.

Remove the upper triple clamp, with the gauges attached. Disconnect the speedo cable at the speedo, and remove the front turn signal stems. Un plug everything in the headlight bucket, and set the bucket aside. Slide the fork ears off the fork tubes, and then you can slide the emblem up and replace it. I didn't try leaving everything plugged in and just moving the bucket out of the way for fear of messing up the wiring when I changed on out on a 79SF a few months ago.
