  • Question of capacity

Been looking at fuel tank spec's.

for the 78/79 standard found both 5.2 and 5.8 gallon listed?!

part # for tanks 2H7-24110-00-XX (XX = color code)
    (same # for 78/79/80 standard)

So, just how much fuel does the 80 standard hold???

Perhaps you need to clean your Specs, glasses that is?!

      Hey Mike,

According to the Official Service Data sheets on the Yamaha Parts Web Site, the 79 and therefore the 80 since they are the same part # says that it's 5.3 gallons!

Read on a very informative XS web site that had a specification for 78XS

(taken from cycle guide jan 78)
        That one says "5.8" gallon

They also had another specification listed right below it
        (from cycle magazine)
        Which says "5.2" gallon.

Didn't find XS spec's at the Yamaha site.
Guess I need to look agin.

          Hey Mike,

On Yamaha's site, when you find the year/model, then check out the SERVICE DATA sheets, very informative!
