    Painting of carbs

I'm in the process of painting my carbs with a simulated anodizing coating made by Duplicolor. This is a sample photo from their website. Mine are looking very much like this, except without the HD logo!

    Anyone ever do this?

Does the paint require an etching primer to be used first? It looks great, and will make Swamp Thing stand out. I suppose someone has to be the Guinie(?) Pig. Good luck.

I've used it. The paint looks great. It seems to chip easy.
To me Powder Coating parts seems like the way to go. A little pricey though.

John, yes, there is a product they call "ground coat" that's used as a base to give the metallic-flakey look. You can do it without the ground coat, but it would require polishing the base metal (ARGH!).

Winterhawk, I'm not too worried about chipping at the carb area, they're fairly protected (I hope).

          Hey Randy,

IS that the MetalCast product? I was looking at that for possibly reconditioning my headlight bucket with a pseudochrome type finish over my pitted rusty bucket!? But doing a nice green looks like a good idea for my carbs.......hmmmmm!! THanks for the idea!

Believe it or not, I've seen it at Walmart in the AUTO paint section!
Or, check your local auto parts store!
