If I end up needing new friction plates, I was wondering if anyone had tried the ones from Partsnmore and what they thought of them. From my breif shopping around the appear to be the cheapest.

I bought a set for Daily ride, but didn't need them. I DID put in the clutch springs, and they made a big difference. My plates checked well within specs, but the clutch was slipping. with the new springs, it just grabs and goes.
The plates look to be the same material as OEM, and I think they should hold up at least as well. My experience is the springs are gone from age and compression. My old springs are almost 1/4 inch short of the new ones! The metal plates almost never wear, so they should be good unless you are pulling 125+ HP.

I tried to order the PartsNMore clutch plates a few months back, but they were out of stock at the time. I ended up ordering friction plates from OldBikeBarn. I believe I paid $63.80 for them. I haven't had any problem with my clutch since I put the plates and new springs in. It seems a lot of people on the forum have ordered the ParttsNMore plates though. First, if you decide to put in new plates from PNM, don't order from the Clutch Parts section!! Go to the Yamaha, XS1100, Engine section, and then add them to your cart there, they are STILL HALF price, only $4.00 each vs. the $8.00 they list in the main parts section, and they haven't figured it out!!
