I am getting ready to attempt the clutch referbinshing and was wondering what the minimal thicknesses are for the plates. Sorry I have misplaced my Clymers at the moment
The wear limit for the friction plates in 2.8 mm (0.11 in). The steel plates don't wear much but can warp. Warp limit is .1 mm (.0039 in). Clutch spring minimum length is 41.8 mm (1.646 in).
I suggest you buy an extra steel plate before you start. Your clutch may be like mine. All plates and springs were well in spec but the clutch slip quit a bit. Pressure plate and clutch boss had very little wear. It shouldn’t have been slipping but it was. I put the extra steel plate in the middle of the pack and it hasn’t slipped since. It wasn’t my idea, I read it here. Several people have done it. Do a search and you will find a lot of clutch info.
