I just inherited my dad's 1981 XS100 Special, and I have a few questions. First: I just bought a set of handle bars from Mike's, and I noticed the bar switch assemblies. Are these "plug and play" for my bike. Second: Can anyone recommend a company or individual that can make a Triumph Thruxton-style seat? Third: Is their a company that makes forged internals for the 1100? Thanks for your help

Honest officer, my speedo only goes to 85mph.
Hey there Officer Josh,
I don't believe those handlebar switch assemblies are "Plug and Play", but with a wiring diagram you could/should be able to make them work, just might have to do some splicing with your OLD wire plugs to get the circuits matched up!
As for the seat, I know folks have posted about places that can do custom work. I'm not sure what a Triumph Thruxton seat looks like?! I'll bet if you did a search for Seat, recover, upholstery, and such you'd find those references!
As for forged internals....what internals are you looking for?? If you are talking pistons, well then YES. Wiseco makes forged pistons in 2 big bore kits, either 1179cc or 1196cc, and a place in Fla. called Pro-Flo sells them for a decent price, and you get the required larger head gasket, rings, wristpins, keepers as well. Just have to have your cylinders bored to the spec. Nice choice on machine, but then again, I'm prejudiced!!!!T. C. Gresham

BTW, here's the link for the pistons:
Big Bore Kits from Pro-Flo
They have typos on their page, though, you'll see they list the wrong diameter sizes for the 1179, should be 74mm!
