If you pull the good side off, you'll see the bolt is standard. It's the NUT that's hard to find.

Thats the part that pisses me off. They had ALL the un-necessary parts crammed into the trunk that came with the bike, and I mean unnecessary. But they couldnt have the sheared off nut for it.

The bolts for the seat can be replaced with carriage bolts. They have a rounded top with a square section to fit the slot. You might have to resort to non-metric bolts, so it might help to buy two (one for each side) to prevent the need for two different wenches. A strip of rubber or wood above the head of the bolt will keep it in place in the slot... Our Lowes has a good selection of fasteners, including the long nuts that resemble the stock ones from Yamaha for the seat (although they fit the non metric carriage bolts).

If you go to the XS parts finder site here:

                  http://www.benefiscal.co.uk/

And look up the part number, you see that the bolt, PN 97306-08025-00 is also used on the 850SG rear brake master cylinder mount.

If you go to XtremePowerSport site here:

                  http://www.yamahaaccy.com/parts.aspx

and look up that bolt under rear master cylinder, you'll see they show them in stock, for $2.45 ea.

                  Good luck

Today just might be your lucky day! I have a pair of them off a 79 xs11 special seat pan. Can anyone verify that the bolt/nut assembly will work for his year?

Bauer, I got your email at work yesterday. Do you want just the bolt and nut or do you need the complete bracket that the bolt fits into? PM me to discuss costs which will be cheap.
