    keep connections waterproof and clean


    What I meant was that the dielectric grease will keep it waterproof and clean.

      The same thing would happen to The Preachers Bike, ride along hit a bump and loose everything. Turns out one of the POs rewired the fuse box, just wraped the wires around the spades NO SOLDER. A little solder went a long way. As others have said Check ALL the connections for corrotion. Also had a similar problem with Training Wheels, changed the headlight and lost everything, unplug it and everything came back, plug it in and lost every thing. Finally traced it back to a corroded contact on the starter solinoid. Cleaned it and every thing coame back. Go figure. Just check and clean all the connections.

        Opinion are like......

        I have a similar issue with my '79 F model, but I know what is causing my issue and I will deal with it when I put my engine back in the bike. the connector plug under the headlight is corroded and occaisionally will not make contact. I experienced thi one evening while riding it...I reached up under the headlight as the bike was grinding to a halt, looking for an open or a short, touched something and the bake sprang back to life. have since narrowed it down to the aforementioned connector plug. hope thi is somewhat helpful

          I had a similar thing happen to me on my triple. Out of the blue it would just die. Turns out that the PO had messed with the wiring behind the headlight and left a raw wire exposed. Once I took care of that my problem went away.

            You asked for opinions..................

            I too just went through an episode of "blowing main fuse mania"

            With no set time pattern everything would die = blown main fuse when checked - replaced maybe it would work or just blow again.

            Found that around the area of main fuse I was "moving/nudging" other wires which had a bearing on main fuse blow and/or main fuse wire heating prior to blowing the fuse.

            Following a "traumatic" electrical fire found that the 4-way hazard flasher wiring had been shorting - seperated the wires, wrapped them in electrical no problem since - have to rewire the 4-ways.

            Electrical probs can be a B***H
