Got Any Nuts???

I am needing a set of header nuts for the exhaust. The ones that screw onto the studs in the head and attach the exhaust. Anybody have spares around, or know of someplace I could find them online? Thank you.

Try an 8mm stainless acorn nut. They look good and the acorn keeps the threads clean and dry.

I went to the hardware store and bought some acorn nuts, but to get them big enough to thread on, they won't fit down into the hole of the "Shim holder??) The stud only comesout flush to this, so the nut will have to go inside the hole, and let a socket get around it. Was hoping to go back stock if anyone had any for sale. thanks for your input.

i had a bad stud on my bike and i replaced the whole thing with the yamaha ones but for a new stud and nut it cost 10.00 so it could get pricey if you wanted to replace all them

Yup.

The studs are fine, but just the nuts from my local shop... he wants 5 bucks a piece! (X8= $40). That's why I was wondering if anyone had any old motors for parts laying around... or a place for salvage that might have them. this is by no means a show bike... so used is fine. I just don't want them so rusted out that they can't be used.

I used the acorn nuts, but then again i had changed my exhaust to an aftermarket one. The flanges on mine are flat. Forgot that the OEM flanges have a recess for the nuts.

I have 7 of the originals from my swap. You're welcome to them. Sorry I don't have 8, that one got away. You know, they're round and when they start rolling....

Long story - short: No I don't, sorry.
There are a few different types. I have some on one bike that are cylindrical and knurled (chrome) that require an allen wrench. They don't look like OEM and may be available somewhere...

Today's your lucky day. Went to the garage to get the nuts and found the eighth nut in the crack of the threshold.

lol.. Yeah finding your nuts in a crack you didn't know they were there can never be good... oh wait.. It turned out to be pretty good for me!! lmao.

Thank you... but no. A guy contacted me from ebay... emailed everybody in there that was selling any type of exhaust parts, or was parting out one.... went fishin' and caught one!! lol. He's already dropped them in the mail. Thank you very much for the offer. Keep your nuts in order and I'm sure you can help someone else out later. Thank you for your time.

Regarding nuts and things, when I removed the header pipes on the XS, I ended up with about 5 nuts only and 3 nuts and studs. Anything special I should do or just reinstall them as they came out and not worry about it.

Should I epoxy the studs into the motor so I would end up with all nuts next time?
