The 1100 and the 850 have the identical bore and stroke and the pistons from an 1100 will work on the 850. Wiseco has some pistons that will work. You can buy a copper head gasket to install the head. There is a guy in Arizona that makes head gaskets out of several different thicknesses of copper. I will look for his web site if you are interested.

Marc,
Any supplier like that guy in Arizona who makes copper gaskets, would be a great add in "Links" (left column).
That makes it easier to find when someone needs that info quick.
Thanks for that tip

The webste is www.coppergaskets.us He has many templates for different motorcyles, so it is easy for him to cut the gasket to fit the piston diameter that is needed or you can send him a template .

I have actually tossed around the idea of removing my factory XS850 decals on my side covers and having some made up to replace them that say XS826.
It like driving around in your truck with a 5.7L (350) and saying you have a 6.0L. Its just not right LOL!1980 XS850G

Years ago (my single days) my roommate had a 68 Chevy Impala SS with the 396 big bock that he did a lot of mods to. 60 MPH roll-on he could out-run my 400 Honda .
He put 327 emblems on the fenders to get victims over-confident .Pat Kelly

Hi Lord Grizzlon,
This week I added the XS850 part numbers to my XS Part Number Finder website. So now you can check which parts are common to both the 1100 and the 850.
Interesting project you got there. Good luck.Brian
