    Your pilot jets are dirty. Time for a carb cleaning,

        My E is doing that. I checked my pilot jets and they are clean.
        From the popping I get at idle when warm from the left muffler (Jardine spagetti pipes) I think I have a 'too tight' exhaust valve and it's time for a valve adjustment. Another symptom that leads me to this is my lack of 'engine braking'. RPMs don't drop back to idle as they should.
        Anyone have an assortment of shims for swapping?
        I remember awhile back someone made a spreadsheet that made figuring shim sizes easy. I downloaded it to my old computer that my son now uses. Had to reformat that harddrive.

          Hey Scott,

          Ditto on the Pilot jet circuit, however, you could first try a good dose of SeaFoam cleaner in a tankful of gas. Use several times the amount they recommend for routine cleaning. Might get it back to manageable driving till warmer climes would allow and easier time for a proper carb disassembly and cleaning!?

            Pat Kelly;

            Hanging high idle and popping are classic lean condition symptoms. Have you done any re-jetting to compensate for the Jardine's?

              Yes, the bike ran perfectly for a couple of years as it is currently configured. One morning it woke-up with a cold and hasn't felt well since.
